Platform: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT
Release Date: 02/2000

Introduction:
=============
AccView/Open is a workgroup network management software with a streamlined,
event-driven, modular architecture that makes managing hundreds of network
nodes simple.

Installation:
=============
Install the main AccView program and required device managers from Microsoft
Windows.
1. Insert the AccView/Open CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Install the software as described below:
3. Select Run... from the Program Manager (for NT 3.5x) or from the Start
Menu on the Task bar (for Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.x).
4. Browse to open <CD-ROM Drive>/SETUP in the dialog box and click the OK
   button.
5. Follow on-screen instructions for installing to a local disk drive.

Note: When you install AccView, you will be asked to input the IP address
      of your PC.

Notice:
=======
AccView may not function properly if you are running other SNMP-based services.

Revision History:
=================
AccView/Open version 5.02
(1) CheetahSwitch 3526G and 3514F/26F management software modules are merged.

AccView/Open version 5.01
(1) CheetahSwitch 4508 management software module added.

AccView/Open version 5.0
(1) CheetahSwitch 3518, 3526G, 3514F/26F and 3616 management software
    modules added.

AccView/Open version 3.12
(1) CheetaHub 3512A/3524A management software module added.

(2) The Winsocket software in Windows 98 supports "raw sockets", so the
IP Alive Test, discovery, and status monitoring of IP nodes works fine.

AccView/Open version 3.11
(1) CheetahSwitch 2510, 2527 and 3508A management software modules added.

(2) A four-group RMON Manager is added.

AccView/Open version 3.10

(1) The Winsocket software in Windows NT 4.0 now supports "raw sockets", so
the IP Alive Test, discovery, and status monitoring of IP nodes works
    fine.

(2) EtherHub 3512 and SwitcHub 3508 management software modules added.

(3) The MIB Browser did not work when the index was too long. The problem
    has been fixed.

(4) The "platform" text in the Configuration Program has changed to "Protocol
Stack", and the options were deleted except for "AccView Proprietary" and
    "WINSOCKET".

(5) The EH1500 Management module was designed not to show statistics for
an unused port, isolated port, or isolated hub. Now this restriction has been
    removed.

(6) In WinSocket environment, BOOTP Server did not work well. The problem
    has been fixed.

AccView/Open version 3.02

(1) A file BIVBX11.DLL was missing in version 3.01. This
prevented LOGCHART from working. The file has been added.

(2) Trap Manager did not work in WINSOCKET environment. The
    problem has been fixed.

(3) In Windows NT environment, with a few objects on the network map,
the SNMP protocol ceased to work after a while, turning all objects
on the map to red. The problem has been fixed. AccView/Open now
    runs reliably on Windows NT.

(4) BOOTP Server did not always work. The problem has been fixed.

(5) The Routing Table did not work. The problem has been fixed.

(6) The MIB2VIEW program did not communicate well with the LOG Manager.
    The problem has been fixed.

(7) The initial TRAP.INI was incorrect. Some EtherHub-1500 traps did not
display correctly. It has been fixed. If the user has modified
TRAP.INI himself, he should backup the modified version, install
the new TRAP.INI and perform the modification again manually.

(8) In EH1500 Management, when the IP address of the device was modified,
it was possible to hang the system if the new IP address is on another
network. The configuration dialog now exits gracefully when no more
    communication is possible.

(9) When EH1500 Management runs in SNMP/IPX or SNMP/Ethernet protocol and
the IP address is changed by the Configuration command, the new IP
address propagated back to AccView main program and turns the icon
to red. The IP configuration data will not propagate now if the protocol
    is not UDP.

(10) The MIB Browser could not display negative numbers. The problem
     has been fixed.

AccView/Open version 3.01

(1) Trumpet Winsocket version 2.0:
The WINPKT program in Trumpet Winsocket can not coexist with WINPD,
ODIPD and NDISPD in AccView/Open, therefore the SNMP/Ethernet protocol
can not be used with Trumpet and will be disabled.

(2) Raw socket
Winsocket software not supporting "raw sockets" such as TCP/IP in
Windows NT 3.5 and Windows 95, etc., will run with some limitations.
AccView uses the raw socket to perform ICMP echo which is necessary for the
discovery and status monitoring of IP nodes. Without raw socket, these
features will not be functional. The IP Alive Test will not function,
Discovery will only use SNMP and not ICMP, and IP nodes can not be used in
the network map. The Event Manager will report a failure for ICMP.DLL, but
the rest of the system works fine.
If the ICMP echo test is necessary, use the PING program provided by TCP/IP
software.

(3) Broadcast IP
Winsocket software that does not support broadcast IP such as Distinct
TCP/IP version 3.2 will not have the "Broadcast" function in Discovery.

(4) FTP PC/TCP does not work well with AccView/Open 3.01, therefore it is not
recommended as a Winsocket platform for AccView/Open.

(5) The Get MAC address function of Name database manager is not implemented
under a Winsocket interface.

(6) AccView/Open 3.01 does not provide a Telnet program when running a
Winsocket interface. Since you are running a Winsocket interface, it is
almost certain that you will have your own favorite Winsocket Telnet
software. It is then necessary to pick a Telnet program when you select
a Winsocket as the platform during installation, otherwise the Tools/Telnet
menu item will be disabled.
AccView/Open will invoke this program with the command line

       <Program Name> <IP address>

For example, if your favorite Telnet program is named C:\MYTEL\TELNET.EXE.
When the Tools/Telnet menu command is selected with an object of IP address
192.72.24.202, AccView/Open will invoke this program by

    C:\MYTEL\TELNET 192.72.24.202

(7) Windows NT 3.5 and Windows 95 are only partially supported. The functions
not available now are:
. Functions involving ICMP echoes such as discovery of IP nodes, the IP node
objects on network map and the alive tests for IP nodes as described in (2).
. The Trap Manager. It will load and appear to work, but can not receive
    traps from TCP/IP stack.
